Rakel Investment & General Services (“Rakel”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a company based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, rakelinvestment.com (the “Website”), which presents our company information, services, projects, capabilities and contact information.

It explains what information we may collect through the Website, how we use it, who it may be shared with, and the choices you have. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not submit personal information through the Website.

The Website is primarily informational. You can browse it without creating an account or giving us any personal information. We may collect:

• Information you choose to give us — details you enter in the Contact form, or send to us by email or telephone.
• Technical information — basic details that are transmitted automatically when a device connects to a website (see section 5).

The Website does not currently offer user accounts or online payments, and it does not run a newsletter or mailing list.

Contact form. If you use the enquiry form on the Contact page, we collect:

• your full name (required);
• your email address (required);
• your phone number (optional);
• the area you are interested in — General Services, Rakel Energy, Partnership / Investment, Tender / Procurement, or Other (required); and
• your message (required).

When you send the form, these details are transmitted from your browser to the Website’s server, where they are checked for completeness and processed so that our team can respond to you.

The form also contains a hidden field that people do not see or complete. It exists only to detect automated spam. If it is filled in, the submission is treated as automated and is not processed.

Direct contact. If you email or telephone us, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address, phone number and the content of your message or call.

Please do not include sensitive personal information, such as identity documents or financial account details, in your message unless we have specifically asked for it.

We use the information you give us to:

• respond to your enquiry and follow up with you where needed;
• discuss the services, projects, tenders, procurement requirements, partnerships or investment opportunities you ask us about;
• keep appropriate records of business correspondence;
• protect the Website and our systems from spam, misuse and unauthorised access; and
• comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

When you visit any website, certain technical information is transmitted automatically as part of how the internet works. The infrastructure that hosts the Website may record some of this information in standard server logs, which are used to keep the Website secure and working properly.

At the date of this policy, the Website does not use analytics services, advertising services or tracking cookies, and the Website’s own code does not set cookies or store tracking information in your browser.

Some third-party content shown on the Website, such as the embedded map described in section 7, is provided by other companies and may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings.

If we introduce analytics or similar tools in future, we will update this policy.

Google Maps. The Contact page includes an embedded Google Maps map showing the location of our office. The map is provided by Google and loads as you scroll towards it on that page. When it loads, Google may receive information such as your IP address, browser details and the page you are viewing, and may use cookies or similar technologies, in line with Google’s own privacy policy. The “Get Directions” button opens Google Maps in a new browser tab.

Social media and other links. The Website links to our pages on LinkedIn and Facebook, and may link to other external websites such as professional profiles. These are operated by third parties. Once you leave the Website, their own privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

Service providers. We may use service providers, such as web hosting and email services, to operate the Website and handle enquiries. They may process information on our behalf for those purposes.

We may share information only as needed for the purposes described in this policy:

• within Rakel, with people who need it to respond to you;
• with service providers, to the extent needed to operate the Website and handle enquiries;
• where required by law, or in response to a lawful request from a competent authority in Sierra Leone, or where needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Rakel, our staff or others; and
• with your consent, or at your request.

The Website does not include advertising systems, and we do not share information collected through it for third-party advertising.

We take reasonable steps to protect information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you believe your information has been compromised, or you have a concern about how it is being handled, please contact us using the details in section 14.

We keep information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy — for example, to respond to your enquiry, to keep business records, and to meet legal obligations. How long this is depends on the nature of the enquiry, for example whether it leads to a business relationship, and on any legal or record-keeping requirements. When information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to delete it or make it anonymous.

You can browse the Website without giving us any personal information. Using the Contact form is optional — you can also reach us by telephone or email — and the phone number field is optional.

You may contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete, or to ask us to delete it or stop using it for a particular purpose. We will consider and respond to reasonable requests in accordance with applicable law. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep information where we are required or permitted to do so by law.

Rakel Investment & General Services is based in Sierra Leone. We handle information collected through this Website with regard to applicable laws of Sierra Leone, including relevant provisions of the Cyber Security and Crime Act, 2021, where applicable. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Sierra Leone.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the Website’s features or our practices change. The current version is always available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. Please check it periodically.
